The Internet

Image
A couple months ago I started listening to The Internet's album "Ego Death" and their album is still on heavy rotation. Super fresh sound, hella dope instrumentals and great vocals. https://youtu.be/zmY8mG4_3j4 I love every song on the whole album...and I also enjoy listening to the album from start to finish. Driving, working, cleaning, browsing the web, entertaining your grandmother and just about anything else pairs well with this one! Do your self a favor and listen to their album. https://youtu.be/XU95OQaB7UI https://youtu.be/ESxDzsv3CkI ...the whole album "Ego Death" is available on Spotify. Go listen!

Do you know the value of a 10oz silver bar?

Image
It is amazing how silly these people in the video were...Silver is priced about $15 an ounce, so if that was a 10oz silver bar it's value is $150. To think these people really chose a Hershey's Chocolate Bar over $150 in silver is mind boggling. https://youtu.be/bYhTFz_SGw0

Plain and simple #KeepItDown

Activist Bree Newsome Speaks out since her courageous act ! “I removed the flag not only in defiance of those who enslaved my ancestors in the southern United States but also in defiance of the oppression that continues against black people globally in 2015, including the ongoing ethnic cleansing in the Dominican Republic. I did it in solidarity with the South African students who toppled a statue of the white supremacist, colonialist Cecil Rhodes. I did it for all the fierce black women on the front lines of the movement and for all the little black girls who are watching us. I did it because I am free.” https://youtu.be/gr-mt1P94cQ #FreeBree #KeepItDown #BlackLivesMatter #PrayForCharleston

Food For Thought: Before Columbus

Before Columbus: Black Explorers  of the New World By Legrand H. Clegg II 10-20-3 via  Rense Every October Americans pause to celebrate Columbus Day. Children are taught that the Italian navigator discovered America. Parades are held in his honor and tributes tell of his skill, courage and perseverance. Historians, archeologists, anthropologists and other scientists and scholars now know that Columbus did not discover America. Not only were native Americans present when he reached the New World, but also Africans, Asians and Europeans, among others, had been sailing to the Americas thousands of years before Columbus ventured across the Atlantic. Of the various people who reached America before Columbus, Black Africans appear to have made the most contacts and to have had the greatest impact. During the 19th and 20th centuries, several scholars wrote books and articles about this subject and urged the academic establishment to change primary and secondary curricula across

The Racial History of American Swimming Pools in McKinney, Texas

In 2009, McKinney was  forced to settle   a lawsuit alleging that it was blocking the development of affordable housing suitable for tenants with Section 8 vouchers in the more affluent western portion of the city. East of Highway 75, according to the   lawsuit , McKinney is 49 percent white; to its west, McKinney is 86 percent white. The plaintiffs alleged that the city and its housing authority were “willing to negotiate for and provide low-income housing units in east McKinney, but not west McKinney, which amounts to illegal racial steering.” All three of the city’s public pools lie to the east of Highway 75. Craig Ranch, where the pool party took place, lies well to its west.  BuzzFeed   reports  that the fight broke out when an adult woman told the teens to go back to “Section 8 housing.”  ... Whatever took place in McKinney on Friday, it occurred against this backdrop of the privatization of once-public facilities, giving residents the expectation of control over who sunbat

At 67 years old  young Grace Jones is still rockin' it! Take a look at this photo that was shot just a couple days ago at the Parklife Music Festival 2015 . She is creative, bold and beautiful.  Parklife Music Fest 2015 via  Shirlaine Forrest/WireImage Grace Jones was born in Jamaica and later moved to Syracuse, NY. Prior to getting becoming a music artist, Grace started with a career in modeling. I adore Grace Jones because throughout the years she has shown that she is quite comfortable in her skin. I've come across some photos that were taken in the 80's and her audacious style is one of a kind... and her music matches that same funky flare. Check out some of her album covers and posters below. Update St. Thomas Carnival 2015

Image
Figured I'd share a day to day review of my take on the 2015 St. Thomas Carnival! So lets jump on in.... Wednesday, I took the day off to enjoy the "Food Fair" and the "From then 'til Now" art show. The "Food Fair" was nice, seen a lot of familiar faces. We got there a little too late because lots of the dishes were already sold out! Next year I'll be sure to get out there early and I may even even bring an umbrella to shade me from the sun... because boy oh boy was it HOTT that day! The "From the 'til Now" art show was nice, I didn't snap many photos but I did post this photo to my Instagram. Installation featuring Shomo Art Studios stained glass work and Blackwood Imaging photography ----------------------------- Thursday, I actually got up early and made it down to the waterfront in time to catch a 'lil bit of Jouvert before work! Midnite's "Credited" Video

Love this song!

"Desiderata" written by Max Ehrmann

"Desiderata" Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble, it's a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be c
