Chamomile Benefits

Visited my local Health Food Store this weekend…and picked up a few things…

Chamomile has been used for centuries in teas as a mild, relaxing sleep aid, treatment for fevers, colds, stomach ailments, and as an anti-inflammatory, to name only a few therapeutic uses.
Dried chamomile flower is an age-old medicinal drug known in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. Chamomile's popularity grew throughout the Middle Ages, when people turned to it as a remedy for numerous medical complaints including asthma, colic, fevers, inflammations, nausea, nervous complaints, children's ailments, skin diseases and cancer. As a popular remedy, it may be thought of as the European counterpart of ginseng.

Animation photo project using salvaged negatives

Thomas Sauvin a French photographer salvaged thousands of photo negatives from a Chinese recycling center. Sauvin collaborated with another artist and created an animation. The project is called Beijing Silvermine.
Some think this project is an invasion of privacy, some believe Sauvin has preserved an otherwise lost portion Chinese history.

Alex Grey

Alex Grey is most known for his interesting spiritual, metaphysical art pieces.
I came across one of Grey's books titled Sacred Mirrors today in my boyfriends book collection.
Quite interesting! Grey is very talented.

In this YouTube video Grey states "I try to find the core truth in all the different wisdom traditions and bring them into a contemporary sacred art"

Spring Cleaning

Spring is in the air!
So this past week I spent much of my time tidying up the place. While cleaning I realized a few cleaning items I have are not eco-friendly. I put a few of these cleaning products to the test on the Environmental Working Group Guide to Healthy Cleaning. And boy was I shocked…Windex Powerized practically failed the toxicity test.
***Check out your cleaning items here ---->>
Now there is a brand that I love because the company Seventh Generation does not used dyes nor harsh chemicals. Seventh Generation uses vegetable based cleaning agents along with essential oils like lavender for scent. Next time your at the store check those ingredients out!

Fool For You

Alice Smith - Fool For You ( Cee Lo Cover)

Ms. Smith has such a beautiful voice!
After listening to this song I am sure you will agree with me.
I am sometimes a bit apprehensive when listening to a cover, but this one is a charm!

check out the chicks...

"...imagine meeting someone who understood even the dustiest corners of your mixed up soul"
So can't believe March is here... Last month we (bf and I) got a wonderful shipment of...27 baby chicks!  So looking forward to the next few months... Our primary reason for getting chickens is to have a reliable egg supply. As I am NOT vegan..yet. I will proudly admit I love eggs...  Boiled, fried, scrambled, poached whatever I will take my eggs any way...  lol But no. Really! Together we decided that we can raise our own chickens... We've had the chickens for almost a month now and it has been wonderful learning experience for myself I've never raised chickens before {...}
