Gasparilla Parade 2018
The Gasparilla Pirate Festival is a Tampa tradition that has been going on for the last century. Festivities start mid-January and finish in February. Each weekend tons of people attend several different events like the Children's Parade, Music Festivals, Art Shows and the Adult Parade to name a few.
Many Adults enjoy Gasparilla because it is all about the beads and booze! Pirates invade the city and throw millions of beaded necklaces into the crowds of the festival goers. The City of Tampa lifts the 'Open Container Law' for Gasparilla by designating "wet zones" and allowing coolers along the parade route. It is known to be the third largest parade in the USA with an attendance of over 300,000 people. This year the Gasparilla Fest coincided with the NHL All-Star weekend. So Tampa Bay was booming with visitors, athletes, pirates and fun!
